As
a diverse parish family in the Anglican Communion, we seek to become a
spiritual home that celebrates Christ’s love by embracing all people as
full participants in a Eucharistic community.
We are one of
93 parishes in the
Episcopal Diocese of Atlanta,
which encompasses North and Middle Georgia. The diocese is one of 111 within
the
Episcopal Church USA (ECUSA),
which serves 2.5 million members in the United States.
The Episcopal
Church is in turn one of 38 self-governing churches in the
world-wide Anglican Communion,
which claims over 70 million people in 164 countries and looks to the
Archbishop of Canterbury in England as the focus of its unity.
Whether
you are new to the neighborhood, to the Episcopal Church, or simply
searching for a new parish home, you are welcome at Nativity.
The dream of the
founding members was realized in June 2000 when our first building on
Antioch Road in Fayetteville, Georgia, was dedicated and consecrated, and
again in September 2004 when we put our new Education Building into
service. We are grateful for the generosity of the many people who have
helped to make these dreams come true.
Seasoned
parishioners. New members. Spiritual pilgrims. Religious seekers from native
Georgia and other parts of our country, members from birthplaces in the
Caribbean, Nigeria, Guyana and other parts of the worldwide Anglican
Communion, we are indeed a "diverse parish family" and we affirm the
giftedness of each of our members.
Spiritual
nourishment. Pastoral Care. A spirit of openness to God's Word. A caring
community. Generous hearts. Open minds. These are some of the gifts which
Nativity offers to enrich the lives of its members and of all who wish to
join us as members or friends.
When, as members of
Christ's Body, we participate in the Holy Eucharist, we affirm our faith in
God's Presence in our midst. When we provide opportunities for learning for
our children, our youth and our adults, we are investing in our present and
future lives. Inquiring minds and searching hearts are always welcome at
Nativity.
When we are sick or find ourselves in crisis or need the encouragement of
our clergy, when new members are baptized or received into the church, when
our members are married, our pledge to be active members of a parish family
helps to provide the quality care and pastoral support so essential in a
vibrant congregation.
When we speak with
strength and confidence for the powerless and become involved in ministries
which respond to the hungry and the homeless, giving of our time, talent and
financial resources in service to all God’s people, the generosity of
members and friends of Nativity sustain these ministries.
When we worship
beauty of our sanctuary, hear the laughing voices of children in our
Education Building, and enjoy the serenity of our Memorial Garden of the
Resurrection, we give thanks to God that there are no strangers here, only
friends we haven't met.
